The DEA regrets to announce the passing of retired Det. Luis R. Cruz, who passed away September 3, 2024. He was appointed to the New York City Transit Police on December 1, 1980. He was promoted to Transit Detective on November 16, 1986. He merged into the NYPD in 1995, and retired out of the 83rd Precinct on December 31, 2001. His death is pending 9/11 WTC status.
