Rogan is survived by his children Kevin\, Joanne\, Michael (Mary)\, Brian (Vanessa)\, John (Debora)\, Mary Catherine Lamoureux (John)\, and his grandchildren Anne Marie O’Brien (Jack)\, Daniel Rogan\, Olivia Swiecicki (Adam)\, Stephanie Wehrley (Andy)\, Nicholas Rogan\, Tim Rogan (Rose)\, Jack Rogan\, Michael Lamoureux\, Griff Rogan\, John Lamoureux\, Pete Rogan\, Harry Rogan\, Claire Lamoureux\, Tommy Rogan\, Caroline Lamoureux\, and his great-grandchildren Kurt O’Brien\, Georgia and Jack Wehrley\, Belle and Lily Rogan. \nDet. Rogan is also survived by his brother John Rogan\, sister Margaret Turner\, and sister-in-law Vera Rogan. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their children who cherished him. \nDaniel was preceded in death by his beloved wife Anne M. Rogan (nee Flynn)\, his son Daniel Rogan\, his parents Daniel Rogan and Mary Jordan\, his brothers Thomas\, James\, and Michael Rogan\, his in-laws Mary and Kathleen Rogan\, Jerry Turner\, Patrick\, Kay and John Flynn\, Mary and Joseph McLaughlin\, and Margaret and Edward Hayes. \nDaniel (known to many as Danny) was born in New York City on March 3\, 1926. \nShortly after graduating from high school\, while World War II was waging\, Daniel enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years. He was stationed in the Pacific Theater and fought in the invasion of Okinawa. After an honorable discharge from the Navy\, Danny joined the New York City Police Department. He worked out of the 23rd Precinct in East Harlem and rose to the rank of First Grade Detective (Homicide Squad). Danny received the Medal of Valor for his role in apprehending a notorious homicide suspect. After retiring from the NYC Police Department\, Danny went on to work as an investigator for Citibank for twenty years. \nDanny met the love of his life\, Anne\, on a blind date. They were married for 74 years\, and Danny always referred to Anne as “his girlfriend.” After Dan and Anne retired\, they travelled the globe with family members. They also fostered special bonds with their grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Great-grandchildren later provided them with joy. \nDanny was a devoted father. He supported his children in all their athletic endeavors and worked very hard to provide educational opportunities for his family. Danny’s desire to help others spread well beyond his family. He coached CYO baseball for Sacred Heart (North Merrick) for many years. Some of his fondest memories came from his days coaching alongside his close friend Rod Bottini. Danny always lent a helping hand to those in need. He was extremely generous and thoughtful and brightened the days of those around him by delivering gifts or sending letters or making phone calls. \nDanny stayed active and engaged throughout his life\, continuing to swim\, shop\, watch sports\, and go out with family and friends until shortly before his passing. \nDanny was a big presence in so many people’s lives and will be deeply missed. \nFamily will receive friends Friday\, January 9\, 2026\, between 4 pm – 8 pm at the Charles J. O’Shea Funeral Homes at 2515 N. Jerusalem Rd. (Exit 25N SS PKWY) East Meadow\, NY.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday\, 9:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart R.C. Church in N.
