Detective Eric M. Calleja was appointed to the force on February 28, 1994, and was promoted to Detective on February 29, 2008. He retired from the 123 Squad on May 31, 2014. Because of illnesses he contracted as a result of his work on the rescue and recovery from the WTC attacks, he died on August 7, 2022. He was survived by his two children.
