Det. First Grade Nicholas M. Holovinsky was appointed to the NYPD on August 31, 1973. He was promoted to Detective on November 22, 1989, earned second grade on December 20, 1995, and first grade on March 23, 2001. He retired out of the Internal Affairs Bureau Support Division on August 31, 2002. Because of illnesses he contracted as a result of his work on the rescue and recovery from the WTC attacks, he died on July 26, 2022. He was survived by his spouse and daughter.
