As of November 22, 2023, Detectives who are eligible should fill out the Uniform Allowance check form on this website.
To receive the tax-free Uniform Allowance check, Detectives must have been an active Detective on November 1, 2023. (If a member retired October 31st or prior, he/she does not qualify for the 2023 Uniform Allowance. If a member was promoted after November 1st, the member’s check will be issued by the PBA.)
Members with 15 or more years on the job (as of November 1, 2023) will receive $1,700. Members with less than 15 years will receive $1,320. All monies will be issued tax exempt. The Uniform Allowance is based on years employed, not years in rank. The DEA will be maintaining a database of all the completed forms and issue the physical checks.
Please note that you will not be able to access the Uniform Allowance form on the DEA app. You must use this DEA website; however our website can be accessed on any electronic device with Internet access, including your smart phone, tablet, or desk computer.
In order to access the Uniform Allowance form:
Look for the Enrollment page that pops up after the homepage. You can also access the enrollment page directly at —
https://nycdetectives.org/uniform-allowance-program.
A short instructional video on completing the enrollment process can be found at —
Please note: If you log in and your name appears reversed on the Uniform Allowance form (i.e. DiGiacomo Paul) you can click on your name at the top of the page to “view account” and that will bring up your “account page.” You can then click on “edit account” and fix your name (i.e. Paul DiGiacomo) and hit “save.” That will automatically fix your Uniform Allowance form, and you can proceed.
Please fill out your form as soon as possible. Thank you!
