The DEA has had numerous conversations regarding various topics of current concern with the Chief of Detectives: one topic being the modification and relaxation in dress code, because of the lack of dry-cleaning establishments opened at this time. The Chief agreed and there will be a modification on dress code for suits and/or uniforms issued very shortly by the Chief of Detectives’ Office.
Other topics discussed with the Chief include whether there will be extended tours or cancellations of RDOs. This will depend upon the number of members of the service who go out sick, but there are no changes as of this writing (March 20, 2020). This may change on a day-to-day basis.
There are more masks and gloves available at the Detective Boroughs. Please make your members aware in case they are in need of supplies.
We will also keep you informed as to when more supplies will be available from the DEA.
If there are any issues in the Units or Squads regarding unnecessary or unessential contact with the public, please notify the DEA immediately.
Your safety and health are of primary importance to the Union, so please keep us informed immediately if any other issues arise.
