Because of the retirement of Brooklyn South Welfare Officer Peter Keszthelyi on January 20, 2025, there was an area election. The DEA thanks the Brooklyn South candidates: Det. Second Grade Nelson Fernandez from the 78 Squad and Det. Christopher Galvez from Narcotics Borough Brooklyn South. The election results were tallied on Thursday, March 6, 2025, and Nelson Fernandez is the new Welfare Officer.
