Make Your Voice Heard — Vote!

As we move forward through 2020, law enforcement across New York and the nation face many challenges. New York’s elected officials have enacted ill-advised criminal justice “reforms” that expand the rights of violent criminals at the expense of everyday New Yorkers and those in blue who keep them safe.

These dangerous reforms paired with anti-police rhetoric are threatening the successful crime declines that have been won by the hard work of New York City Detectives and our fellow NYPD Officers over the past three decades. The most recent NYPD crime statistics show a nearly 20% increase in major crimes for the first two months of 2020, the largest jump in crime in the past 20 years.

On behalf of every member, the Detectives’ Endowment Association has written open letters to Governor Andrew Cuomo, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, and Mayor Bill de Blasio strongly urging them to correct their failing policies.

Together, our voices are stronger. The DEA encourages every Detective, both active and retired, to register to vote. Please help us send a message to legislators to reform the “reforms” and keep us from slipping back to the high-crime days we once experienced decades ago. Too many of our brothers and sisters in blue have greatly sacrificed for us not to come together and elect officials who respect and support law enforcement. They need to include us in criminal justice reform discussions as well.

A full list of candidates endorsed by the DEA will be published shortly.
