Message from the DEA President

Message from the DEA President

Today, Inauguration Day, is yet another historic time in America as thousands of National Guard troops and even 200 members of the NYPD secure the event in Washington D.C. Here in New York, we continue to be attacked and injured during violent demonstrations. Eleven officers were injured on Tuesday. Fortunately, they were not seriously hurt.

As we continue to face great challenges, it is imperative to protect yourself and your fellow bothers and sisters in blue. Going home to your loved ones is the top priority. Please also keep in mind ill-conceived laws, like the “Diaphragm Bill,” that were created by elected officials who look to scapegoat the police.

Please know that the DEA is in your corner, fighting for your rights and to keep you safe. We are always here for you — honored to represent “The Greatest Detectives in the World.”

If you are injured during these dangerous demonstrations, please contact your delegate as soon as possible and be sure to file the appropriate line-of-duty paperwork. The DEA will also look to take civil action against those responsible as we have done in the past.

These unprecedented times have brought us closer than ever before. Remember, in unity there is strength.

Fraternally,

Paul DiGiacomo, President, and the Board of Officers
