New York Post Covers DEA Press Conference

On March 15, 2021, the five NYPD uniformed unions — the DEA, PBA, SBA, LBA and CEA — held a press conference directed at NYS legislators and NYC Council members to drive home the point that their police and bail reform laws are not working. Joining law enforcement to discuss the rise in random violence and shootings were parents of crime victims: Nadine Mckenzie, mother of slain teenager Shamoya Mckenzie; Eve Hendricks, mother of murdered teen Brandon Hendricks; and Randolph Holder, Sr., father of slain Det. Randolph Holder, Jr.

Both teens — Shamoya and Brandon — were hit by stray bullets. Brandon Hendricks and Shamoya Mckenzie were both aspiring basketball players. Brandon was an excellent student who received a scholarship to St. John’s University, dreamed of having a family and becoming a teacher. He was killed nine days before his 19th birthday. Shamoya was already 6’2” at age 13 and dreamed of playing basketball for the University of Connecticut.

Det. Randolph Holder was shot and killed in the line of duty on October 20, 2015, when, as a PSA #5 Police Officer, he was investigating a call of shots fired. He was promoted posthumously to first grade Detective on October 28, 2015. His father, Randolph Holder, Sr., was a Police Officer in Guyana.

The press conference was covered by NY1, the New York Post, and other media outlets. The Post published this article on March 15, 2021:
