Coronavirus took the life of a second NYPD detective on Friday — but Commissioner Dermot Shea assured New Yorkers there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Detective Jack Polimeni, a 23-year veteran, was assigned to the NYPD’s Warrant Squad when he succumbed to the virus, the Detectives’ Endowment Association said.
“The prayers of every member of the Detectives’ Endowment Association are with Detective Polimeni’s loving wife and family,” DEA President Paul DiGiacomo said Friday. “COVID-19 is an invisible bullet to the men and women on the front lines of this crisis.”
