NYPD Detectives Union Wants to Sue those who Violate Coronavirus Social Distancing Rules

The union representing NYPD detectives wants to sue anyone who puts their members at risk of catching coronavirus by violating social distancing rules, the group said Tuesday.

“To unnecessarily put our people in harm’s way, it’s unacceptable,” Detectives’ Endowment Association President Paul DiGiacomo said. “We’re not out there to be abused and treated like second-class citizens.”

DiGiacomo said his union is “exploring the avenues of legal action” against people whose flagrant violation of social distancing rules results in a detective getting sick or dying from coronavirus.

“If it’s not going to be addressed by the politicians, then this union is going to address it in any way that we can,” he said.
