As we move forward through 2020, law enforcement across New York has seen first-hand the cowardice of many elected officials. New York’s so-called leaders have turned their backs on the police, law and order, the public, and common sense. They have enacted ill-advised “reforms” that expand the rights of violent criminals and endanger those of us who fight crime.
These dangerous reforms, paired with anti-police rhetoric being chanted in our streets, is quickly unraveling the successful crime declines that have been won by the hard work of New York City’s Detectives and our fellow NYPD Officers over the past three decades.
On behalf of every member, the Detectives’ Endowment Association, Inc., partnered with our fellow police unions, filed civil suits in an attempt to stop some of the irresponsible and absurd new laws that were passed. We must also vote in every election.
Together, our voices are stronger. The DEA encourages every Detective, both active and retired, family, friends, and colleagues, to register to vote. Please help us send a message to legislators to reform the “reforms” and keep us from slipping back to the high-crime days we once experienced decades ago. Too many of our brothers and sisters have greatly sacrificed for us not to come together and elect officials who respect and support law enforcement.
