10-13 for Retired Det. Second Grade Clarence Word

Det. Second Grade Clarence (“Clay”) E. Word, who retired out of the Hate Crimes Task Force/Bias Incident Investigation Unit in 2011, was recently diagnosed with Metastatic Pancreaticobiliary Carcinoma, Stage 4 — which is Pancreatic Cancer that has spread to his liver and is inoperable.

The friends and colleagues of Det. Word have come together to start a “Go Fund Me” page to raise funds for the medical bills of this intrepid Detective who is battling this horrible disease.

Det. Word and his family live in Florida, where first Clay joined the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office as a School Resource Officer. The Word family eventually relocated to the west side of Florida, where Det. Word continued with his passion to serve and protect and became a School Guardian in Manatee County. There are only 55 School Guardians in Manatee County and about half are retired former members of the NYPD.

Anything you can contribute to the medical fund for this hardworking Detective, husband, and father will be greatly appreciated. Click on the link below to access the “Go Fund Me” campaign for Det. Word.
