Sam Schwartz Pedestrian Traffic Management Services Seeking Supervisors

Sam Schwartz Pedestrian Traffic Management Services is currently seeking experienced supervisors to join them on a full-time basis for work in New York City.

Sam Schwartz Pedestrian Traffic Management Services, Inc. (SSPTMS) was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in NYC. SSPTMS specializes in providing clients with comprehensive traffic management solutions that work to improve even the most complex of traffic situations.

The firm was developed by Sam Schwartz (better known as “Gridlock Sam”), a pioneer in traffic engineering and management. Sam is a recognized traffic expert with over 40 years’ experience in the public and private sectors, even having served as New York City’s Traffic Commissioner in the 1980s. Sam is also a regular contributor to the New York Times and Queens Chronicle.

SSPTMS primarily services the entire New York City metropolitan area, but their services are used throughout the United States (including, but not limited to, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Florida, and Washington D.C.) and they are ever-expanding.

About the Field Supervisor Position:

The Field Supervisor is the primary, on-site liaison between SSPTMS and the client. The Field Supervisor reports to the General Manager and is responsible for ensuring the work site is operated in a manner consistent with their contracts, policies, and applicable legal or safety standards, all while maintaining strong working relationships with SSPTMS, their employees, and the client. Work is done outdoors and in all weather conditions.

Field Supervisor FLSA Status and Salary:

SSPTMS is committed to equitable pay. As part of that commitment, they have provided the estimated compensation for this position of $30 per hour.

They are seeking to fill the following schedule:

Thursdays  6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Fridays  6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Saturdays  6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Every other Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Flexibility is strongly preferred. Work is primarily in Queens, but occasionally in other boroughs.

For consideration, candidates MUST meet the following qualifications:

Available to work at least one (1) weekend day (Saturday or Sunday);

Three (3+)-plus years of previous experience working in traffic management, airport security, or other safety related experience required;

Three (3+)-plus years previous supervisory experience required (military, law enforcement, or traffic enforcement supervisory experience preferred, but not required);

Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including consistent and reliable email access);

Present valid Flagger, OSHA-30, and SST certifications within sixty (60) days of hire.

Field Supervisor Job Description/Essential Job Functions are as follows:

Facilitate the smooth, secure flow of traffic in, out, and throughout the job site;

Provide shift oversight and direction;

Understand and apply safe traffic control practices;

Ensure procedural and policy requirements;

Prepare detailed incident reports;

Respond to all unusual occurrences and ensure all incidents are adjudicated correctly with proper notifications;

Mentor and assess personnel and make recommendations to management;

Inspect personnel and logs;

Work alongside local law/traffic enforcement officers and other traffic control mechanisms in the area;

Carry out requests assigned by the General Manager, Field Operations Manager, and/or the client;

Maintain frequent and positive contact with SSPTMS personnel, clients, and the general public;

Address any issues, provide feedback to ensure that the needs of each individual client are heard and are being met.

Effective verbal and written communication skills; Active listening skills; Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively; Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately; Attention to detail.

Other Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years old.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Must have reliable transportation to/from the work site(s).

Valid NY/NJ Driver License preferred.
