The Police Pension Fund investment performance for fiscal year 2016 (July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016) was 1.67% net of fees. The actuarial assumption rate is 7%; therefore the “underperformance” of stocks results in an approximate 5% shortfall.
NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer released his annual financial report for fiscal year 2016, and the overall funded ratio of the New York City pension funds decreased from 70% to 65% as a result of updated mortality tables. The Police Pension Fund is funded at the rate of 69.5%.
