10-13 for Retired Det. First Grade Clay Barnett

10-13 for Retired Det. First Grade Clay Barnett

Shortly after Retired Det. First Grade Clay Barnett retired in 2021, after 25 years of service, he was diagnosed with cancer related to his work on the rescue and recovery from 9/11. Since then, Clay has undergone three surgeries, rounds of chemotherapy, and various other therapies to keep the cancer under control. As of today, Clay is still fighting hard to beat this.

Clayton Barnett joined the force in 1996 and was assigned to the 83rd Precinct. He also served in PBBN Anti-Crime before moving on to the 79th Squad, where he was promoted to Detective. Clay finished his last six years with the Force Investigation Division where he retired as a First Grader. He was diagnosed with cancer that same year.

Clay has a beautiful family – his wife and two children — who have been with him through these difficult times. His battle against cancer has come with many unforeseen expenses, including treatments not covered by insurance, to other costs related to medications and travel expenses.

A Go Fund Me page has been set up for Clay and his family. Anything you can contribute to this noteworthy public servant’s health and welfare will be greatly appreciated. Click on the pdf file link below to make a contribution. On behalf of the DEA, we thank you.
