Nassau County Police Department Special Investigations Section Detective Joe Avanzato — brother of NYPD Queens Transit Robbery Squad Det. Robert Avanzato — has recently been diagnosed with a relapse of B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Originally diagnosed in 2011, after treatment Joe went back on the job, but now he has suffered a relapse.
Joe served the NYPD before moving to the Nassau County PD. A Fund the First campaign has been established to help Joe and his beautiful family get through this difficult time and cope with his expensive treatment. Any donation you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.
