Rick Simplicio was appointed to the force in June of 1995. He earned his gold shield in October of 2007, second grade in 2018, and first grade in 2021. He was the union Delegate from the 40 Squad when he was elected Bronx Welfare Officer in 2019. He moved up to the Bronx Trustee position in July of 2023. As the first Hispanic Vice President of the DEA, Rick brings decades of experience to the job, including first-hand knowledge of navigating the Police Department’s maze of disciplinary proceedings that we know weighs heavily on the minds of our members. From IAB investigations and the trial room, to the unjust CCRB, Rick is in your corner every step of the way – with a proven track record of getting the job done.
