There will be memorial for retired Det. First Grade Rodney White, who passed away on July 28, 2025, on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
White was appointed to the force on January 28, 1982, and earned his gold shield on December 5, 1986. He earned second grade on August 23, 1996, and made first grade June 24, 1999. He retired out of the Organized Crime Investigation Division’s Business Integrity Unit on August 31, 2002.
Among those who survive Rodney is his older brother, Det. Second Grade Ralph White, who retired out of the 13 Squad in 1988. He leaves another brother Roger, who is also in public service. Their sister predeceased Rodney by one day.
Det. White was described by friends and colleagues as a “top shelf Detective” who was the “best, deep Undercover, someone everyone wanted to have their backs.” He was “extremely friendly,” someone who “knew everyone,” “personable and funny,” and “the sweetest person in the world.” White was born in the Bronx, but became a Brooklynite shortly before he went on the force. In the 1980s, he was part of the undercover operations in Manhattan South Narcotics under then-Lt. William Allee. In retirement, White worked for the Office of the Trade Waste Commissioner of the City of New York and Homeland Security. He was well known as an expert on wiretapping.
Retired Det. First Grade Rodney White will be deeply missed.
