The DEA regrets to announce the passing of retired NYPD Detective and Queens District Attorney’s Office Lt. Joseph A. Falgiano. Det. Falgiano passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. His death is pending 9/11 LOD status.
Joe was born in Flushing, Queens and went to Archbishop Malloy High School. He joined the NYPD on July 16, 1984. He worked as a Police Officer in the 19th Precinct and later in the Anti-Crime Unit. He was promoted to Detective on July 29, 1994, and worked in Queens Narcotics and the Major Case Squad. He earned a position at KANSU (Kennedy Airport Narcotics Smuggling Unit) and then the DETF (Drug Enforcement Task Force), from where he retired on February 25, 2005. Three days later he became a Queens DA Investigator, where he was assigned to (HIS) Homeland Security Investigations at Kennedy Airport. In 2012, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and in 2024, promoted again to the rank of Lieutenant.
Lt. Falgiano is survived by his wife, his children, and his many friends and extended family.
