The DEA regrets to announce the passing of retired Det. First Grade James J. Motto, Sr. on January 12, 2025. Motto joined the force November 7, 1979, and was promoted to third grade on March 6, 1987. He earned second grade on July 29, 1994, and earned first grade on March 29, 1996. He retired out of the Drug Enforcement Task Force on January 20, 2003. His death is pending 9/11 LOD status.
