The DEA regrets to announce the passing of Det. John J. Swift, who retired out of the 44 Squad on December 31, 2002. Det. Swift joined the force on July 8, 1985, and was promoted to Detective on June 28, 1990. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Afghanistan. Retired Det. Swift passed away on April 11, 2026. His wake will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Schuyler Hill Funeral Home at 3535 East Tremont Avenue in The Bronx, NY 10465, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  His funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at St. Peter’s RC Church on 22 Barclay Street in lower Manhattan, NY 10007, beginning at 10:00 a.m. He will be greatly missed.
