Wake & Funeral for Chief John L. Keenan

John L. Keenan, the former NYPD Chief of Detectives, passed away at the age of 99. He was an NYPD officer for more than 30 years and eventually, as the Chief of Detectives, oversaw the Son of Sam investigation. Keenan was a WWII veteran, and as a member of the Counter Intelligence Corps, he participated in the D-Day Invasion, the Battle of the Bulge, and the liberation of Paris, finishing his service in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant. He will be waked at the Macken Mortuary in Rockville Centre, Chapel 52, Clinton Avenue, on Sunday, September 22, 2019, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Monday, September 23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre. Interment will be at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood in Westbury, New York.
