Detective Edward Roos joined the NYPD in 1926. He was assigned to the 52 Squad at the time of his death. Roos was killed in an automobile accident while on a special patrol assignment with the Bronx Park Station following the killing of two patrolmen in the Wakefield section of the borough.
At approximately 1815 hours, on January 27, 1938, Detective Roos was involved in a collision at the corner of Gun Hill Road and Boston Road. An Officer in a nearby patrol car heard the crash, arrived at the scene, and transported Roos to a nearby gas station where he could call Fordham Hospital. Roos had a fractured skull and never regained consciousness.
He was 34 years old. He and his wife had two children and lived on East 219th Street in The Bronx.
