DEA Contract Ratified

DEA Contract Ratified

The contract vote deadline was Monday, October 16, 2023, at 12:00 noon.

The following is a breakdown of the results:

4,698 voters (or 94.74%) voted to accept the contract.

Only 261 voters (or 5.26%) voted to reject the contract.

92% of the active DEA members participated in the election, and a total of 4,959 votes were tallied.

Only 433 of the 5,392 eligible voters did not vote.

The tentative agreement with the City memorializes the base wage increases for five (5) years and enhances the DEA pay scale. The DEA secured the base wage increase of 3.25%, 3.25%, 3.50%, 3.50%, and 4%. Specifically, with the secured base wage increases equating to 18.77% compounded over 60 months (covering the period of June 1, 2022, through May 31, 2027), we reduced the number of steps to reach top pay, and injected money directly into the remaining steps of the pay scale. We were able to accomplish all of this with no concessions or give-backs. Furthermore, our Longevity at the five (5) year, fifteen (15) year, and twenty (20) year steps are increased by the same percentage as the base wage increases; plus, the City agreed to discuss extra unit value related to “uncaptured” overtime that can be used in future negotiations. This is why it is extremely important that all active members use, and continue to use, the DEA’s Time-Tracking App, which was developed specifically for the purpose of tracking the work you perform for the NYPD when you are technically “off the clock.”

During these precarious times of City cuts and budget woes, the DEA worked hard to bring you this positive, productive, and equitable agreement. We are pleased the membership agreed with the union to ratify the contract.

We are waiting for the date from the City when the retro money will be disbursed, and we will notify you as soon as possible.

We thank everyone who participated in this contract ratification agreement. In unity there is strength.

Fraternally,

Paul DiGiacomo

President
