The Detectives’ Endowment Association, along with other members of the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) and all our fellow police unions across the country, join the call for boycotting the films of writer/director Quentin Tarantino, because of the filmmaker’s reckless and irresponsible characterization of our nation’s hardworking police as “murderers.”
While Tarantino is comfortably depicting fictitious violence and mayhem in his movies, our members and our brother and sister Officers do daily real-life battle, facing unprecedented violence while combating crime and lawlessness in our nation.
While we understand Tarantino’s Constitutional right to free expression, let us exercise our own right to boycott his forthcoming and past film releases.
Our mandate remains making sure America remains safe. So, as you make decisions with your family about entertainment this holiday season, please support those filmmakers and artists who appreciate and respect our nation’s first responders.
