The DEA, along with the LBA and SBA, met with the Police Commissioner and other top Department officials on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. As a result of the meeting, there will once again be a delay in the start of the new policy until the unions work through certain issues.
Here’s the backstory: A joint letter co-signed by the DEA and the LBA was sent to Commissioner Bratton requesting a meeting regarding “Stop and Frisk” forms and the Use of Force Policy.
Here’s more backstory: On Oct. 29th, the DEA met with ESU and Counter-terrorism Delegates to discuss issues specific to those units with respect to the Department’s new force policy. On October 8, 2015, the unions met again with Police Commissioner William Bratton regarding the new use of force policy. The unions previously met with Bratton on the same topic on September 16th.
