The results were tabulated on July 3, 2025, and the new Queens Welfare Officer is David Teta of the Gun Violence Suppression Division. His election takes effect as of August 1, 2025, with the retirement of Troy Alden.
Here’s the backstory:
The results were tabulated June 19, 2025, but out of the top two vote getters, neither candidate received a 51% of the vote, which is required by the DEA’s Constitution and By Laws. Therefore, there is a run-off election between Det. First Grade Danielle Febus (Queens Special Victims Squad) and Det. David Teta (Gun Violence Suppression Division). The ballot emails have been sent out and the ballot count will be July 3, 2025.
