RE:  Errol Campbell (aka Robert Roulston) DIN #88A1004

Dear Ms. Henderson and Members of the Parole Board:

I request that parole consideration for the above-mentioned prisoner be denied.

On June 28, 1986, in the confines of the 101 Precinct in Queens, New York, NYPD Police Officer Scott Gadell and his partner P.O. James Connolly were approached by two men who reported that a near-by gunman opened fired on them. The Officers saw the suspect, drew their weapons, and chased the gunman.

Each Officer covered the side of a building near an alleyway. When Officer Gadell reached the alley, the perpetrator, who was crouched in a basement entryway, opened fire at him. Gadell returned the volley, but when he was reloading his weapon, the perpetrator shot him in the head at close range. That perpetrator was Errol Campbell.

Campbell fled. Gadell was rushed to the hospital, but died of his wounds.

Two months later, Campbell was apprehended and charged with Murder. He is now incarcerated at Shawangunk Correctional Facility and is seeking parole. His hearing date is approaching.

At the time of his murder, Officer Gadell was a rookie with only one year on the force. He was survived by grieving parents, friends, and colleagues. He gave his young life for the City and the State of New York.

I urge the Parole Division of the State of New York to deny any parole petition for the ruthless killer Errol Campbell. This criminal lost his right to freedom the day he decided to gun down a New York City Police Officer. Let justice be served by keeping this dangerous, hot-headed killer in prison for life. Thank you for considering my position.

Sincerely,
