RE: John Williams, DIN #94A4614
Dear Members of the Parole Board:
On the Fourth of July in 1993, off-duty Police Officer Rudolph Thomas of the New York City Housing Authority was celebrating the holiday with his girlfriend when they stopped at a deli at 922 Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. Officer Thomas’ girlfriend parked her car, and Officer Thomas was riding his motorcycle. Thomas’ girlfriend went inside the deli to shop while the Officer sat on his motorcycle outside the store.
An armed, ex-con named John Williams approached Officer Thomas to rob him. Williams demanded the motorcycle. Thomas raised his hands in surrender, but identified himself as a Police Officer. As Thomas attempted to dismount the motorcycle, William shot him point blank without warning. Williams attempted to ride away with the bike, but couldn’t start the vehicle. He fled on foot, but was later apprehended, tried, and convicted.
P.O. Rudolph Thomas died from his wounds. He was survived by his girlfriend, parents, and siblings.
Now, his cold-blooded killer, who has been serving time at Eastern Correctional Facility, is seeking parole. His hearing date is set for this coming February 2022.
I urge the Parole Division of the State of New York to deny the parole petition of this killer. This criminal lost his right to freedom the moment he decided to rob a hard-working man whose only action was celebrating the nation’s birthday. I believe cop-killers, especially those who execute public servants in cold blood, should stay behind bars for life. Thank you for considering my position.
Sincerely,
