As a result of the data that was provided by those who used the DEA Time-Tracking App, the Union negotiated a stipend of $705 per annum as an annual stipend for the majority of Detectives to compensate for the hours spent working during what is technically off-duty time. According to the Office of Labor Relations, this annual stipend will start appearing on paychecks the week of May 22, 2026.
Here’s the backstory: On December 23, 2025, the DEA entered into an agreement under the prior administration with the Office of Labor Relations regarding the off-duty work our members engage in as evidenced by our statistics from our Time Tracking App. This agreement will provide an annual stipend for the majority of Detectives to compensate them for the hours spent working during what is off-duty time. As a result of the data that was provided by participating members, the Union negotiated a stipend of $705 per annum. This stipend will be received by Detectives in Squads/Units/Teams within the Detective Bureau, Collision Investigations Squad, Technical Assistance & Response Unit, Internal Affairs Bureau, Intelligence Division, Counterterrorism Bureau, Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the Family Assistance Unit, amongst others. This stipend is being remitted as part of one’s regular bi-weekly paycheck and is designed to compensate for up to six hours of off-duty overtime work. As a result of this agreement with the City and the Department, any disputes involving off-duty overtime claims shall be subject to the grievance/arbitration procedures set forth in the CBA. Furthermore, in the event that a Detective works above and beyond the six-hour limit set forth in this agreement, he/she must obtain supervisory approval to conduct such off-duty overtime work, keeping in mind that if a Superior Officer contacts a Detective to engage in such off-duty overtime work, approval is presumed.
Please remember that the DEA invested a great deal of time and effort developing our Time Tracking App, which allows each member to track, in real time, working hours, albeit on or off the clock. None of our members should work without compensation, and in support of gathering the proper data from this app, we urge you to continually utilize this app for its intended purpose. Increased and consistent participation in this app will only benefit the Union heading into the next round of collective bargaining. This app can be used on your electronic device (computer, iPad, iPhone, or other cell phone). If you have any problems downloading or using this app, please reach out to our dedicated technical support team at either 1-(800) 913-8430 or 1-(888) 620-4446, or to any of the DEA Board Officers
