Det. Michael K. Davis retired on August 1, 2004 out of the Counterterrorism Division. Davis joined the New York City Police Department on July 16, 1984. A 20-year veteran of the NYPD, Davis earned his gold shield in February of 1991. He served in several commands, including the 34 Precinct, the 34 Precinct Detective Squad, the Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the Counterterrorism Division. He made 330 arrests over the course of his time with the Department and was recognized eight times for Excellent Police Duty and once for Meritorious Police Duty. Davis died on June 10, 2015 of leukemia that was a result of his work on the rescue and recovery from 9/11.
