The DEA regrets to announce the death of retired Det. Joseph T. Schneider. After attending Merrimack College, Det. Schneider was appointed to the force on August 30, 1993. He was promoted to Detective on July 30, 1999, and retired out of Queens Narcotics on October 31, 2002. In retirement, he and his family resettled in South Carolina. His death is pending WTC “line of duty” status.
Det. Schneider was described as, “Unforgettable — a great athlete, a great fraternity brother, and the greatest of friends. He lit up every room.” An excellent Police Officer, he was known for his sense of humor and his ability to make others laugh. Said one friend, “What a talent he had for bringing a smile to everyone’s face. Certainly he’s the headliner entertaining all the angels now.” Det. Schneider will be greatly missed.
