The DEA regrets to announce the death of retired Det. Edward (“Eddie”) Galanek, who passed away on July 4, 2026. Ed was appointed to the force on January 26, 1982, and promoted to Detective June 26, 1987. He retired January 31, 2003, out of the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office Squad. His death is pending 9/11 LOD status.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hodder Farenga Funeral Home, 899 McLean Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10704. He will be deeply missed.
