On April 27, 2026, Guy Rivera ― who shot and killed Det. Jonathan Diller on March 25, 2024, in Far Rockaway, Queens ― was sentenced to 115 years to life.
On April 1, 2026, Rivera was convicted by a jury of aggravated manslaughter in the first degree, attempted murder in the first degree (he also shot squarely at Sgt. Sasha Rosen, but his gun jammed), and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
He was sentenced by Queens Supreme Court Justice Michael Aloise to consecutive terms for the various charges.
