Devin Spraggins, the perpetrator who shot Det. Brett Boller when Boller was a Police Officer, was sentenced to 39-years-to life on December 2, 2024. On April 5, 2023, Boller and his partner, P.O. Anthony Rock, were on routine patrol in Jamaica, Queens when they responded to an incident on an MTA bus. On the street, Spraggins opened fire on the Officers, hitting Boller in the femoral artery and vein in his upper thigh and shattered his hip. Spraggins was later arrested, tried, and on November 13, 2024, he was convicted by a jury of attempted murder in the first degree, assault in the first degree, aggravated assault of a Police Officer, and assault of a Police Officer for shooting Det. Boller, and convicted of attempted assault in the first degree and menacing a Police Officer for grappling with Officer Rock, as well as two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, tampering with physical evidence, and assault in the third degree. On October 25, 2024, Brett Boller was promoted to Detective.
