The DEA, in conjunction with the law enforcement coalition, purchased an ad in Times Square across from the NYPD sub-station (in the middle of Broadway) to combat the anti-police ad that is posted there. The electronic billboard is currently up and running. The billboard directs viewers to a website that includes an interview with crime victim Eve Hendricks, whose 17-year-old son Brandon was killed by a stray bullet. The website also includes an online petition that will be presented to our Mayor and New York City Council. We need as many people as possible to sign the petition. Please forward the petition link — https://www.needtotalk.nyc — to as many family, friends, and colleagues as you can.
The DEA continues to engage actively to communicate with our members and the general public. Through our Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter accounts we have provided seven videos with more to come. We need to change perceptions about law enforcement. Additionally, with the four other police unions, we formed a New York Law Enforcement / Labor Coalition to send the message that “We Are All New York.” Please like these posts and share them with your friends and family to help get the word out that law enforcement is not the problem.
