With the invasion of the Ukraine by Russia, the Russian American Officers Association (RAOA) of the NYPD is currently requesting help from the membership and the general public. They are collecting donations of certain medical supplies that are needed overseas. There are members of all ranks in our Police Department who have family in the Ukraine and they desperately need the listed supplies. If there is room in your budget and your heart, please donate whatever is possible to aid in this humanitarian crisis.
The supplies listed below will be collected and sorted at the NYPD Barrier Section at 49-63 30th Street, Long Island City, New York 11101 for the next two weekends. Donations can also be dropped off at any numbered NYPD Precinct stationhouse, which will have a drop box set up for the collection. The items will be sorted at the Barrier Section before being sent overseas by a charity that is working closely with the RAOA on this humanitarian campaign. The list of what is needed is as follows:
First Aid Kits
Acetaminophen (Tylenol or generics)
Ibuprofen (Advil or generics)
Aspirin (Bayer or generics)
Bandages
Gauze
(Please check the expiration dates of the items you wish to donate. Medicines must be viable for at least the next six months.)
On behalf of the NYPD Russian American Officers Association, thank you for your concern and for anything that you can do to help our Ukrainian allies in their time of desperation, grief, and need.
