While it has been only recently confirmed that the City knew of the dangers of the toxic air resulting from the attack, the DEA was the first organization to order an environmental review for the health and safety of our members, since our entire active membership was engaged in the rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero, Freshkills Landfill, and the Morgue. Consequently, the DEA demanded the Police Department institute measures for decontamination and personal protective equipment for our Detectives.
