WTC Notice of Participation Deadline – 09/11/2026

WTC Notice of Participation Deadline – 09/11/2026

The New York City Police Pension Fund has asked all unions to immediately notify their members of an important deadline concerning the World Trade Center (WTC) Notice of Participation.

If you participated in the World Trade Center rescue, recovery, or clean-up operations and have not already submitted a Notice of Participation to the New York City Police Pension Fund, you should submit the form as soon as possible and no later than midnight on September 11, 2026.

The Notice of Participation is an important filing for members who participated in qualifying WTC operations because it preserves their ability to seek WTC-related disability benefits if they subsequently become disabled as a result of a qualifying condition.

The Police Pension Fund’s current Notice of Participation form is available on its website as Form 250 – WTC Notice of Participation and can be accessed here: https://www.nyc.gov/assets/nycppf/downloads/pdf/250_wtc_nop.pdf

Members who remain unsure whether they have already submitted a Notice of Participation should contact the New York City Police Pension Fund before submitting another form. Members may contact the Fund’s Call Center at 646-905-5596 or email [email protected]. Fund staff will confirm whether a Notice of Participation is already on file or whether the member should submit one.

The Notice of Participation is not itself an application for a disability pension. A separate disability application is required if a member later seeks disability benefits.
The form is available to active, retired, and vested members who participated in qualifying WTC rescue, recovery, or clean-up operations.

Members who are uncertain about their filing status should first contact the Fund using the telephone number or email address above.

Please do not wait until the September 11, 2026 deadline.
