Help keep cop-killer Pablo Almonte (DIN #03A3535) in prison for life for the 1988 murder of NYPD P.O. Michael Buczek. Dear Members of the NYS Parole Board:
On October 18, 1988, New York Police Department (NYPD) Police Officer Michael Buczek and his partner were on duty in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan. When they attempted to arrest several subjects on drug charges, one of the subjects shot Officer Buczek while running from the scene. Buczek died from his gunshot wounds. He was only 24 years old. All three criminal subjects fled to the Dominican Republic.
Officer Buczek had served the New York City Police Department for only three years. He was married to his high school sweetheart, who was widowed at age 24. Buczek was also survived by his heartbroken parents and sister, and countless colleagues and friends.
It took years of political and legal wrangling to extradite the wanted subjects, because the brother of one of them was an official in the Dominican Army. He helped the remorseless miscreants elude the American authorities for years. Eventually, one of the subjects died on the island. However, the United States Marshals Service finally apprehended one subject in year 2000, and the other in May of 2002. They were each charged with second degree murder.
After a trial, on June 19th, 2003, the two living subjects were sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. Now, one of those killers, Pablo Almonte, DIN #03A3535, is up for parole. As far as I am concerned, Pablo Almonte lost his right to freedom the day he participated in murdering a hardworking, young public servant serving and protecting the citizens of New York. I urge the Parole Division of the State of New York to deny the parole petition of this remorseless killer. I believe cop-killers belong in prison for life. Thank you for considering my position.
