Dear Fellow Detective,

As we move forward together, I want to take a moment to update you on the work your union has been doing on your behalf — and to reaffirm our commitment to protecting Detectives, public safety, and the profession we are proud to serve. Every gain we make is the result of your dedication, sacrifice, and unity. It remains my honor to represent you alongside the Board of Officers and every Delegate as we continue to advocate forcefully for our members.

Strength Through the New York State Public Safety Alliance

One of our most significant achievements has been the success of the New York State Public Safety Alliance. This historic coalition comprised of more than 100 law enforcement unions and associations from across our State has strengthened our collective voice in Albany and beyond. By standing united, we are ensuring that lawmakers hear directly from those who understand public safety best — the men and women who do the job every day. As this coalition moves forward, we will keep our members apprised of the issues we are tackling.

Expanding Our Political Voice

Building on that momentum, we are actively creating a new federal Political Action Committee. This effort will allow us to engage at the national level and ensure that our Detectives have a seat at the table when critical decisions are made. This is about accountability, influence, and protecting Detectives and our profession from policies crafted without our input.

DEA Convention & Direct Engagement

Our recent DEA Convention underscored the strength and unity of this union. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch attended and spoke directly with our Delegates, listening to your concerns and offering solutions on issues that impact Detectives daily. Open dialogue matters, and we will continue to collaborate and demand transparency, responsiveness, and leadership from NYPD executives.

Prepared for the Fights Ahead

The challenges before us are real. With a new Mayoral administration, an upcoming Governor’s race, continued battles involving the CCRB, renewed attacks on due process, and ongoing efforts to undermine protections like Section 50-a, the DEA stands ready. We will not allow a dangerous, anti-police fringe to harass, endanger, or demoralize our hardworking members. We will push back — forcefully and unapologetically — whenever Detectives are treated unfairly.

Our work is ongoing, and the road ahead will not be easy. But this union has never backed down from a fight, and we will continue to stand strong, united, and focused on protecting your rights, your safety, and your future.

On behalf of the DEA Board of Officers, thank you for your trust and support. We remain committed to defending “The Greatest Detectives in the World and ensuring your voices are heard where it matters most.

Remember, it’s all about the membership.
