April 2026
The fight to protect our members — and strengthen public safety across this State — is gaining momentum.
The DEA was proud, once again, to host a powerful meeting of the New York State Public Safety Alliance, bringing together police unions from Buffalo to Suffolk County. This coalition continues to grow because the mission is clear: stand united, speak with one voice, and fight for the rights and safety of every law enforcement professional in New York. And make no mistake — our voices will be heard.
At the same time, we are aggressively pushing for critical legislation in Albany to put an end to the harassment and targeting of our members. Too many of our Detectives and Police Officers are being followed, filmed, provoked, and attacked — with these incidents then posted online for clicks. This is not protest — it’s intimidation. It’s dangerous, it’s deliberate, and it must stop. We will not stand by while our members are turned into targets for doing their jobs.
We are also continuing our fight to address the growing shortage of Detectives across the NYPD. Units are stretched thin. Caseloads are rising. And the strain on our members is real. This is not just a staffing issue — it is a public safety crisis and a direct threat to the health, safety, and fairness that our Detectives deserve on the job. Our members should never be forced to carry impossible workloads under dangerous and unsustainable conditions.
The DEA will continue to lead from the front — organizing, advocating, and fighting for the protections, resources, and respect our members have earned.
We are united. We are mobilized. And we are not backing down.
Remember, it’s all about the membership.
