The three-year-old son of Det. Thomas Richards is fighting Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia (JMML), a serious and very rare type of blood cancer. A bone marrow transplant is the only hope for success. Liam is facing rounds of chemotherapy followed by the transplant. He will need to be in the hospital for two months while he is undergoing the initial treatment and transplant. Only his mother and father will be able to see him during this time. When released from the hospital, Liam will be at a very high risk of infection and viruses. He will be required to stay home for many months while his immune system recovers.
