In Memory of Detectives Rafferty and Parker
For more than 40 years, the Silver Shield Foundation has been committed to raising funds to provide support for the children and surviving spouses of First Responders killed in the line of duty. The Foundation provides tuition assistance, tutoring services, college preparatory services, spousal education assistance, counseling and bereavement services, health and wellness services, and outreach services for line of duty families of the police, fire departments, and EMS.
In loving memory of NYPD Detectives Patrick H. Rafferty and Robert L. Parker — who 20 years ago made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty — two of the children of Patrick Rafferty are running with Team Silver Shield in this year’s 2024 NYC Marathon. Emma, Kara wish to honor their father and all first responders by supporting the Foundation which assisted all three Rafferty children in obtaining their higher education by providing the scholarship funds that made it possible for them to attend the colleges of their choice.
