2024 Uniform Allowance Program

Enrollment in the 2024 DEA Uniform Allowance Program will begin mid to late November. Your Detectives’ Endowment Association will be making tax-free Uniform Allowance payments available. Based on current tax law and in agreement with the City of New York, dues-paying union members may qualify to have their annual dues payments offset the taxes associated with the Uniform Allowance. Dues-paying union members will be entitled to these payments with no deductions. This check will now be issued by the DEA and not the City of New York.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

All active DEA union members who have paid up to $1,320 / or $1,700 in qualifying expenses in the year 2024. Qualifying expenses include union dues, clothing and footwear, specialty equipment, cleaning of uniforms, and other qualified business expense incurred with being a uniformed employee of the NYPD.

Eligible members who have less than 15 years of service will receive a check in the amount of $1,320. Eligible members who have over 15 years of service as of November 1, 2024, will receive a check for $1,700.

Members who submit the form before December 6th will qualify for the first check run date of December 15, 2024.

All submissions will be processed within 2-3 weeks, regardless of the date of submission.

If you do not submit your Uniform Allowance Benefit form, you will not receive your Uniform Allowance Benefit.
