Board Officer Changes

DEA Vice President Rick Simplicio and Manhattan North Trustee Richard Baboolal are both retiring. As of April 1, 2026, Nick Masi became the Union Vice President and Cristina Reyes moved up to DEA Treasurer. Vincent Signoretti moves up to Manhattan North Trustee. There will be elections for Bronx Welfare Officer and Manhattan North Welfare Officer. As the filing period has now concluded for both elections and the candidates’ submissions have been reviewed, the eligible candidates as per the DEA Constitution and By-Laws are as follows:

For the Bronx Welfare Officer position, the candidates are Det. Curtis Cato of the 44 Squad and Det. Charles Gove of the 47 Squad. The voting will commence on Monday, April 13, 2026, and will continue until the ballot count on the morning of April 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

For the Manhattan Welfare Officer position, the candidates are Det. James Burpoe of Manhattan North Narcotics, Det. Thomas Amato of the 20 Squad, and Det. Isaac Moultry of the 24 Squad. The voting will commence on April 17, 2026, and will continue until the ballot count on the morning of May 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
