On November 17, 2021, in Queens Supreme Court, Christopher Ransom received 33 years in prison for his part in setting off the chain of events that led to the shooting death of first grade Det. Brian Simonsen. On February 12, 2019, and while on his day off, Simonsen and his partner responded to a T-Mobile store which Ransom was robbing at gunpoint. Simonsen’s dedication and service to the people of this City cost him his life. He will always be a hero to law-abiding citizens
On behalf of the Detectives’ Endowment Association, Inc. — the labor union of active and retired NYPD Detectives — we hope Christopher Ransom will spend the rest of his life in prison. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers will always be with the Simonsen family and our late union Delegate.
