Bobby McMahon, a retired member of the Department of Correction and fellow 9/11 responder, lives in Islip with his son, Dylan, an NYPD Police Officer, and his daughter Madison, who works for the East Islip School District, as well as Madison’s six-year-old daughter. Bobby’s wife passed away in 2021, after a long battle with cancer. The couple’s savings were depleted during his wife’s illness, but in September of 2023, Bobby made the final payment on the mortgage on the family home.
However, on January 3, 2024, in late afternoon, their house was completely destroyed by fire. The family lost everything — all of their clothing, furniture, appliances, including family photographs and personal items that can never be replaced.
Bobby, Dylan, Madison, and her daughter are all living in a nearby hotel and trying to rebuild their lives.
Bobby McMahon was the lead Officer for the New York City Department of Correction Harbor Unit during the 9/11 rescue mission from Ground Zero in 2001. Bobby was there for New Yorkers when the City needed him, and we should be there for his family in his time of great, personal need.
His colleagues have set up a Go Fund Me campaign, and the link for the page is below. Anything you can contribute to this effort would be greatly appreciated.
