Detective Jason Fernandez recently retired in November of 2022 from the NYPD’s Detective Bureau Bronx Violent Crimes Squad. After serving New York City for 17 years, his career was cut short because of an injury to his arm suffered in the line of duty. However, Jason has been presented with a new challenge: a battle for his life. Jason was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, better known as ALS or “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” for which there is no known cure. Jason and his wife and four children (ages one through 13) are facing this battle with him, and his friends and colleagues have set up a “Fund the First” campaign to help this member of our DEA family through this difficult ordeal. Click on the link below to access the fundraising campaign and learn more about the medical challenges facing the Fernandez family. Any assistance you can render will be greatly appreciated.
